Styes are inflamed sebaceous glands (near the base of the eyelashes) and are usually caused by staphylococcus bacteria. They look similar to pimples, but should not be squeezed or pierced as the bacteria inside can spread over the entire eyelid.

A sty or hordeolum is an infection of the sebaceous glands at the base of the eyelashes. It is a small boil or abscess caused by an infection of one of the tiny oil-producing glands located at the base of each eyelash.

A sty also may arise from an infected hair follicle at the base of an eyelash. A sty can develop as a complication of blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid). The term external hordeolum has been used to refer to a sty that develops at the base of an eyelash involving a hair follicle of the eyelid.

Styes appear as small, reddened lumps which are often a little painful. They frequently have a yellow, pus filled point. Even blinking can cause discomfort, particularly as the stye grows larger.

Stye Causes:

The infection is usually caused by Staphylococcus Aureus bacteria. This can happen to anyone of any age although it tends to be more prevalent amongst infants. Other causes can include stress, poor nutrition, and even the use of razor blades to shave hair near the eyes, which can spread staphylococcus.

One of the most common reasons that Staphysagria is used is the ailments from suppressing anger. Anger is not well tolerated in the modern world. Initially, the anger may be suppressed, so much so that the person actually feels as if they are not an angry person.at all. This is all too common in children.

Stye Treatment:

Another remedy to ease swelling is a poultice made from grated potato. Place this on the eye and relax for several minutes. You can also soothe itchy and inflamed eyes with another pantry item. Boil whole coriander seeds in one cup of water to make an eye rinse that you can use 3 to 4 times per day.

Ayurvedic treatment for both the conditions is aimed at treating the cause of the disease. Medicines used for acute infection are used in the treatment of stye. These medicines include Triphala-Guggulu, Sukshma-Triphala, Arogya-Vardhini.

There is a simple way to prevent yourself from this type of disease, just to wash off your hands before touching your eyes, this type of small operation can save you from Eye stye.

The care of a sty is pretty simple, but it is important to know because these can be extremely painful. There are some times when you might consider calling a doctor, but these are only in extreme cases and I will list these cases below.

The itching of the eyes is thought to be relieved by applying a liquid distilled from meadowsweet. The oil made from balm reduces inflammation of the eyes.

Drug therapy can be prescribed by your health care provider. Do not use any medicine (including over-the-counter remedies) without checking with your health care provider. Generally, drug therapy includes antibiotic eye drops/ointment and, occasionally, an antibiotic taken by mouth. Carefully follow the directions prescribed by your health care provider.
